If I could, I would give it 0 stars. It arrived July 15, it is July 26 and the wing doors already don't work correctly. I troubleshooted and reset it, changed batteries. The wing doors all of a sudden stay open all the time, every once in a while it closes and opens again on its own. I can't keep the doors closed unless I take the batteries out. then I can't open the wing doors. the sensor doesn't work. For the amount of money I spent, not worth it.

But you still you have to empty it from time to time.

I purchased this trash can because my dog Sugar was caught numerous times with her head in the trash. She’s such a good girl otherwise.

I decided to purchase a touchless trash can thinking it might remedy the situation.

As soon as I read “Pet Proof” in the description of this beautiful trash can I was sold. The retailer I purchased it from had price drop at the time, which also helped me decide to purchase this model.

I have to say. It is the best trash can I have ever purchased. It’s not only touchless and sanitary, it holds a week worth of trash! I don’t have to empty the trash can two, or three times a week. Plus - I do not need to turn the can off. I do not need to use the pet lever/lock to keep Sugar from burying her head in the trash! She tried to open the can the second day we got it. Her nose swept over the sensor, the wings popped open, startled Sugar enough for her to jump backward from the can! She then barked at it once, and walked away. She has not approached the trash can since.

Besides all that…I love my new trash can!

I absolutely love this specific trash can. It fit perfectly in my kitchen. I recently purchased an adapter. It take C batteries & they work great. When they stop I will use the adapter as I have an outlet next to the can. As soon as it senses your hand or motion, it opens immediately & closes quietly. Definitely worth the investment. I love everything about the trash can. I don’t have animals. You can lock it for smalls kids too. They may like opening & watch it closes. Quality made too.

I bought this because my Husky was able to get into EVERY other trash can I tried; even electric ones. He could just lift the lid on any can (he's prehistorically large for his breed, can rest his whole head on the dinner table with no effort). This trash can has a heavy enough lid because of the mechanism, also I think the rectangular shape helps, that he cannot lift the lid. I've come home and the entire trash can has been moved a few feet, facing a different direction, but he can't get in it. SUCCESS! There is a log for the lid as well, so it's a double win. I find I have to turn the automatic feature off all the time, because I'll catch my Austrian Shepherd licking the sensor to get it to open, and with the toggle lock on, the can continues to try to open which I read can ruin the motor. All in all, turning it off then on when I need to use it is a small price to pay to not have to pick up trash that has been strewn across the downstairs. It also has a nice looking finish.
